ALM/Busy Circuits announce Motto Akemie

First software release from Eurorack specialists

ALM Busy Circuits Motto Akemie six-voice FM drum synthesizer sequencer DAW plug-in

UK-based manufacturer ALM/Busy Circuits are well known for their extensive range of Eurorack modules and accessories, but their latest release sees them try their hand at a virtual instrument. Motto Akemie is a six-voice DM drum synth and sequencer plug-in inspired by the company’s popular Akemie’s Taiko module.

The plug-in’s six dual-operator FM drum voices are based on those found in Akemie’s Taiko, and come equipped with a similar set of controls that allow users to craft a wide range of sounds — the company say that the sounds vary from pure sinusoidal oscillations to “mega clonks and chaotic self-feedback-enveloped noise”! Included in the set of parameters for each voice are dedicated level, pan, mute and solo controls.

The lower half of Motto Akemie’s GUI is occupied by a step sequencer which operates on a per-voice basis with variable sequence length and speed. In addition to triggering the drum sounds, it is also possible to use the section to apply per-step modulation to all of the voice parameters. 16 pattern banks are provided, allowing users to quickly copy, save and load their sequences, and there are controls to apply random patterns for inspiration, or quickly clear the settings to start work on a new idea.

The plug-in also offers full parameter automation support, along with per-voice MIDI control and support for MTS-ESP microtuning.

Compatibility

Motto Akemie is supported on PCs running Windows 10 or later, and Macs running macOS 11 and above. VST3 and AU plug-in versions are available.

Pricing & Availability

Motto Akemie is available now, priced at $40. There is also a fully functional seven-day trial version for those who wish to try it out.
