Launched in January 2024, Wavetick is a new music marketplace established by former Splice executive and Sample Magic founder Sharooz Raoofi. The service provides a quick and easy way to purchase or sell copyright-free beats, whilst providing clear, flexible terms and offering a competitive commission fee.
The platform allows the sale of sample packs, full tracks, presets and MIDI files, with users able to begin selling their work immediately after getting their account set up. a choice of licensing options are supported: one-off, limited edition (1 of 10, 100 or 200) or unlimited, and sellers are free to set their own pricing in their own local currency; payment can be claimed after a sale by linking a PayPal account, and Wavetick’s commission fee (12.5%) is lower than the likes of Bandcamp.
Content on the platform is automatically tagged with a Purchase Tier colour, providing users with an easy way to understand the marketplace’s pricing structure and providing users with robust licensing terms for their uploaded work. Since it’s launch earlier in 2024, the site is already playing host to over 20,000 stems across 800 products. Alongside the marketplace, the company are also running an in-house label, Wavetick Sounds, which has delivered over 40 releases spanning everything from esoteric electronic genres through to classical strings and lo-fi hip hop.
